Now is the time: act for Circular Economy and Digital Citizenship!
Do you want to contribute to public and social good across the EU? Don’t miss the chance to take part in the programme!
During these last few weeks, we have received many requests from groups from all over the continent interested in solving urgent challenges through Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) applications. Nevertheless, you still have the opportunity to collaborate with our inspiring challenge owners to contribute until the 6th of May.
Do you want to know more about our amazing challenges? Keep reading!
If you are into Circular Economy, these Challenges are made for you:
Circular economy is a new economic model for addressing human needs; an economy that fairly distributes resources without undermining the functioning of the biosphere or crossing any planetary boundaries.
At DLT4EU we believe that facing an ever-increasing global consumption of natural resources, and related environmental and socioeconomic challenges, expediting the transition towards a circular economy is critical for Europe. Therefore, we want you to help us solve these challenges:
Enabling a Citizen-Powered Circular Textiles Sector by the Amsterdam CTO: to change the way textile waste is collected, treated and re-processed thereby extending its life and bringing it back into the loop for new uses in the city of Amsterdam.
Track and Trace: Supply Chain Transparency by UNDP & AltFinLab: to develop a one-module infrastructure for a track-and-trace solution and to pilot the solution with the use case of food production/agriculture, medical supplies or textiles.
Enabling Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Energy Solutions by UNDP & AltFinLab: to develop an infrastructure that enables asset trading within communities and/or cooperatives, of utilities - such as off-grid renewable energy markets.
Digital Impact Coins by UNDP & AltFinLab: to enable new types of innovative investment in Community projects.
A Smart Commons Platform: New investment models for community-led urban development by Dark Matter Labs: to help develop a platform to give people a say in what they think their neighbourhoods need; from more green space, to backing local businesses, or a shared solar energy grid.
The Trees as Infrastructure Project by Dark Matter Labs: to overcome the current barriers in urban forestry management and unlock the massive collective investment needed in trees as vital infrastructures for a resilient and thriving future.
If your solution is more related to Digital Citizenship, these are your challenges:
Digital Citizenship can be broadly defined as the application of digital technologies to better facilitate and engage citizens in public decision-making, service improvement, and social impact initiatives. At DLT4EU we want to contribute to solving challenges in this area at various levels:
Enabling Data Sovereignty for all Citizens by the City of Helsingborg Municipality: to help citizens become the owners of their personal data generated by public administration, and enable the use of predictive data models for improvements in public service provision.
Charitable Aid Accountability for Humanitarian Agencies by Red Cross and DFS: to help the Autonomous Office of the Spanish Red Cross in Catalonia, which is supported by Digital Future Society, to face barriers with the reporting, verification, and accountability processes, improving transparency and accountability within public service provision and humanitarian development activities.
Collaborative E-waste management to reduce disposal and foster circular consumption by the City of Sant Boi: to promote a circular consumption model for electronic equipment, extending its life cycle and value, and promoting reutilisation - where vulnerable people can be trained to work in the repairing and delivery for reutilisation.
Enabling Better Digital Inclusion for Italy by Agency for Digital Italy by AGID: to support digital identities that enable public sector bodies to safely and efficiently converge, pool, and share private data in response to grant / control access measures stipulated by individuals.
The Digital Social Market - engaging communities to encourage behaviour change by Sharing Cities: to explore the DLT options available to grow and improve the Digital Social Market (DSM) concept in several European cities, and link it across the EU.
Shared E-Mobility by The Greater London Authority: to see how can DLT/blockchain change or improve the way multiple European cities can provide common digital infrastructure focused on e-mobility.
Sustainable Energy Management Systems (SEMS) by Sharing Cities: to discover what decentralisation can bring to Sustainable Energy Management System (SEMS) in London, Lisbon and Milan.
